Intervals of the Blues Scale

The blues scale is built from the intervals root (1), minor third (m3), perfect fourth (4), diminished fifth (b5), perfect fifth (5) and minor seventh (b7). Starting with each step of the minor pentatonic scale, a new fingering is formed, resulting in five different patterns. To play such a pattern in another key, it must be moved according to the transposing table. Even the best rock licks draw on the tonal material of the blues scale!
