Intervals of the Major Pentatonic Scale

The major pentatonic scale is built from the intervals root (1), second (2), major third (3), fifth (5) and sixth (6). Starting with each of these steps, a new fingering is formed, resulting in five different patterns. To play such a pattern in a key other than A major, it must be moved according to the transposing table.
