Modes of the Melodic Minor Scale in Intervals

The melodic minor scale consists of 7 different notes. Starting from each of these notes, a separate mode can be formed:

  1. note root: Ionian b3 (1, 2, b3, 4, 5, 6, j7)
  2. note major second: Dorian b2 (1, b2, b3, 4, 5, 6, b7)
  3. note minor third: Lydian #5 (1, 2, 3, #4, #5, 6, j7)
  4. note pure fourth: Lydian b7 (1, 2, 3, #4, 5, 6, b7)
  5. note pure fifth: Mixolydian b6 (1, 2, 3, 4, 5, b6, b7)
  6. note major sixth: Aeolian b5 (1, 2, b3, 4, b5, b6, b7)
  7. note major seventh: Super Locrian b4 (1, b2, b3, b4, b5, b6, b7)
