Get Inspired By Open Tunings
Not only different variations of standard tuning, but also many open tunings belong to the repertoire of popular guitar tunings. In contrast to standard tuning, open tunings are tuned to a specific chord, so they may be moved easily with a slide or barre finger.
For example, Open A, G, E, D are typical for the blues, as is Drop D for metal styles, while Dsus4 (also known as DADGAD) is particularly common in folk. The best thing to do here is to try out a few different tunings and let yourself be inspired by the new sound. You will be surprised how old chords will suddenly sound like the latest fashion.
