In this exercise continuous alternate pickings (up and down) are performed in triplets with a plectrum on all strings. The triplet rhythm increases the demands on the right hand, because now a stressed upward movement (v) must be carried out on the beats 2 and 4 of each mesure. In order to avoid disturbing background noises, the right hand dampens the strings and produces a short, dry sound (palm mute).
The alternate picking exercises are included in the Guitar Lovers Studies PDF or as play along track in the Jamtracks PDF which feature high graphic resolution for printing and integrated sound.
