The dominant 7th arpeggio consists of the chord tones root (1), major third (3), fifth (5) and dominant seventh (b7) which correspond to the notes A, C#, E and G in the key of A. In this exercise these tones are sequenced by groups of four containing two sixteen notes of the same note followed by two sixteenth notes of the following two arpeggio tones. This type of melodic placement is often heard in rock'n'roll type rhythm playing.
