Modes of the Major Scale in Intervals

The major scale consists of 7 different notes. Starting from each of these notes, a separate mode can be formed:

  1. note root: Ionian (1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, j7)
  2. note major second: Dorian (1, 2, b3, 4, 5, 6, b7)
  3. note major third: Phrygian (1, b2, b3, 4, 5, 6, b7)
  4. note perfect fourth: Lydian (1, 2, 3, #4, 5, 6, j7)
  5. note perfect fifth: Mixolydian (1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, b7)
  6. note major sixth: Aeolian (1, 2, b3, 4, 5, b6, b7)
  7. note major seventh: Locrian (1, b2, b3, 4, b5, b6, b7)
